Nitrogen Efficiency

Conventional fertilizing practices create Carbon-poor environments in which microorganisms function sub-optimally. To compensate, excessive Nitrogen must be applied, which leads to significant leaching into the water table, runoff into streams, greenhouse gas emissions, over-acidification of soils and ultimately to soil infertility.

GreenHarvest™ works in part because it directly stimulates soil microorganisms that convert organic elements into forms that plants use for growth. Carbon found in GreenHarvest™ coal is a key ingredient that appears to stimulate their activity, which likely explains why, in field tests, GreenHarvest™ achieves significantly greater efficiency in Nitrogen uptake by plants, as shown below:
